My first rafting trip was so enjoyable and every one at Healing waters was so very nice that I just had to ask about volunteering with them. I have been volunteering with Healing Waters since 2011 and come back every year as a volunteer cook. I love the camaraderie of the volunteers and how welcome we make all the participants feel. Not only that, but we make some amazing meals and ensure that all the participants have a safe and memorable rafting trip.

I did have one good experience with ALRP. But that person no longer works there. Overall a bad experience. I contacted them about landlord issue and sent them copy of lease and house rules. JR said they felt that I wasn't telling them the truth about issue. It was a simple issue. Then she said she would look into contacting landlord directly. And that I would need to sign release. I said that I was agreeable to that. Then I got a blank email from her. I replied that there was nothing in the email. No answer back from her. A week later I complained to some people there and she replied. She said she had offered to contact landlord directly, but I didn't answer. Then she was going to send the release forms me to sign. I said no because I didn't trust her. I asked director there to assign me to someone else. He forwarded my message to client services director. Client Services Director told me I shouldn't complain that some of their staff was arrogant or that I hated one or two of them. So I am never going to request services from ALRP again. I don't know what their agenda is. I told director that ALRP staff is too important to help me.<br><br>I took my issue to the Housing Right Committee. I gave them the same information. Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) helps so many families in Silicon Valley. Over 30% of the population in Santa Clara County is Asian Pacific American, and AACI is the largest community-based organization focused on serving that population. They have programs that help at-risk youth, victims of domestic violence abuse, survivors of torture, low-income seniors, and families who need mental health counseling. AACI's shelter for victims of domestic violence serves a huge need in our community. Many of their clients do not speak English, which makes leaving abusive relationships even harder. The majority of these women are extremely low-income, surviving on less than $9,000 a year. Luckily, AACI has a comprehensive program to serve these women and their children. Their staff speaks 14 languages and include people who serve as family advocates and legal advocates. Given the wide range of languages and cultural backgrounds of AACI's staff, they are able to help women and children receive food, clothing, a safe place to stay, and a host of free and confidential services. Our community is a better place because of the dedication of AACI's staff.

They try to keep people in the sro's so that they get almost 3000 dollars a month for each one of the closet size rooms that they force people into by not assisting them to navigate the rental process to get a nice apartment. <br> And for those who finally get approved for section 8 who are knowledgeable and persistent enough to escape being forced into an SRO. They send people from there scattered housing unit to come and put you under a microscope untill they find reasons to try to get you evicted so that you have to then take your voucher to one of there sro's so they can get the almost $3000 every month while putting the renter in a space no bigger than a walk in closet with no private bathroom, mice and roaches. <br> Anyone with a section 8 voucher who reads this needs to know that they can get a huge 1 bedroom with a bathroom and a kitchen and some even have washers and dryers in unit. You can rent any apartment in San Francisco you don't have to go to the sro. The apartment building I live in has a pool and a huge gym. Don't let the people Frome Episcopal community services force you to give them more government money to use for paying there friends and family for work they don't actually do.

I took on a special interest with the blind and visually impaired after having been through a few serious eye infections (one required a CT scan) and learning that the occasional abnormalities in my vision are ophthalmic migraines. I heard about the Lighthouse from a friend, and I found it to be the perfect opportunity to help. Having volunteered in hospitals in the past, I found the Lighthouse to be far more rewarding in every aspect. Hospital work was full of impersonal duties, from picking up empty charts to organizing forms, and because of this I couldn't wait to end my shift and go home. At the Lighthouse, everything is centered on bettering the lives of the visually impaired, and its volunteer program is no exception. One of my favorite activities is helping clients express themselves in the arts and crafts class, although I am not particularly artistic. Through the use of high contrast backgrounds and other aids, they have created amazing pieces of art that far surpass my abilities. The unconventional approaches they take as a result of their different visual perspective and the amount of creative output they have never cease to amaze me. As DebraLee rolls another coil of clay and Donna 'Cardboard' Gilbert cuts out shapes from her favorite medium, I can see that much more than art is being made&mdash;friendships form as clients and volunteers come together to share advice and stories. Being an avid cyclist, I joined Tandems Across the Bay, the Lighthouse-sponsored group that rides tandem bicycles with the visually impaired across the San Francisco area. Cameron, my tandem riding partner, enjoys crossing the Golden Gate Bridge with the wind blowing in our faces and fog around us. Our favorite part of the rides is a long, twisty downhill after crossing the bridge; we both feel that same rush as we speed down the trail, leaning into the turns. Being able to share this experience with those who would not otherwise have the chance is immensely fulfilling. Spending time at the Lighthouse is always a pleasure and I have yet to see an unfriendly face. The friendships I have made and satisfying experiences I have had will last a lifetime.

HCN has become unorganized and has lost professionalism since 2020. They do not know what salary they want to offer employees, they do not communicate with employees and potential employees about goals and objectives, they do not have good time management or communications anymore.
